The key fob should be held with the Volvo logo facing upwards, and press the manual lock/unlock. Find the black button near the edge of your key fob and gently press it. This will open the cover that conceals the manual key blade. You will require a flathead screwdriver or coin to flip the cover counterclockwise so that the arrow is aligned with "open."

If your vehicle is equipped with an installed dealer-installed Engine Remote Start accessory, you can also utilize the key fob to activate this feature. The car will be heated or cooled to the exact temperature it was set to when it was parked and last for up to 15 minutes.
Utilizing a fingernail to carefully remove the cover from the back of the key fob. Under the cover on a diagonal close to the body's edge, you'll find an unidentified button. Take it off by sliding it downwards, then to the right. The cover will come out and slide off, revealing the manual key blade within! If you're not able to locate the button, search the now-revealed manual key access for a lever or slot.
Closing the Windows
One of the lesser-known features that is not visible on Volvo key fobs is the ability to open all windows at once with the fobs. This is useful when you are trying to squeeze into tight parking spaces or simply need fresh air while driving.
To do this simply press and hold the unlock button on your Volvo remote for four seconds. This will lower the windows and the sunroof, should you have one. Once you're done with the vehicle, you can close all windows by pressing the lock button again for four seconds.
You can also use the key fob to turn on your car's panic alarm. This will make an ominous sound that will draw attention to the car and deter thieves. It will also assist you return to your home in a safe manner even if you've been out for the night. This feature is great should you reside in a hazardous area or want to ensure your family's safety when you are away from home.
The opening of the Tailgate
The key fob of Volvo is loaded with a variety of useful features. They are great if you have your hands full with shopping, or helping your children to pack their sports gear after a session.
For example, if you have the Hands-Free Power Liftgate with logo projection and adjustable height (if equipped) You can open it using the key fob. Simply press the button open it and then press the same button to close it once you're done.
When you're ready to start your car, use the key fob to push the START button (and don't be concerned about your battery dying or your car not starting because it comes with a backup mechanical key slot as well). This is only one of many useful trick to use with your new Volvo.
